JPEG · JPG · PNG → WebP — optimized for the web
WebP is a modern image format developed by Google, designed specifically for the web. It delivers the same visual quality as JPEG and PNG but at a significantly smaller file size — making your website faster and more efficient.
Resize your image before exporting if the original is larger than what your website actually displays. Uploading a 4000px image for a 1200px blog post wastes bandwidth and slows your page — visitors never see the extra pixels.
| Image Type | Recommended Width |
|---|---|
| Hero / Full-width Banner | 1600–1920 px |
| Blog Featured Image | 1200 px |
| Content / Inline Image | 800–1200 px |
| Team / Portfolio Image | 600–800 px |
| Thumbnail | 300–500 px |
Use these as a rough benchmark. If your exported file is significantly larger, lower the quality or reduce the dimensions.
| Image Type | Target Size |
|---|---|
| Thumbnail | 30–80 KB |
| Blog / Article Image | 80–200 KB |
| Hero / Banner Image | 200–500 KB |
| Product Image | 80–180 KB |
| Logo | Under 30 KB |
A good filename helps search engines understand your image before they even load it.
